The Faux Stems and Vases I Use for Fall Arrangements
I buy faux fall stems for vases every September. And at this point there’s a whole bin of them in my garage. That comes out the same week the weather turns. The reason I keep going back to faux instead of fresh is that dried stems still look right in January. And fresh flowers do not make it two weeks.
The dried pampas bundle from Wayfair is where I would start. You get 117 pieces. Which sounds like too many until you split it across three rooms and realize it was the right call.
The bunny tails mixed in are what make it look soft instead of spiky. The preserved wheat arrangement from Primrue is real dried wheat, not plastic. And the gold is what I reach for when I want fall in a room with no pumpkins in it.
It stands on its own too, so there’s nothing to arrange. For greenery I use the Kebe eucalyptus stems. Three per pack, UV resistant, and they hold up on a covered porch.
The DULRLL ficus branches are the tallest thing here at almost 29 inches. And the wire stems bend. So you shape them to the vase you already have instead of the other way around.
The berry stem from Primrue is what gives the whole group its color. Everything else here is neutral, and one warm stem is the difference between a fall arrangement and a spring one. On vases, the Abbittar set of two in beige is the easiest place to start.
Two heights that already work together, and beige sits next to the wheat and the pampas without competing. The white retro ceramic vase is the short one for a kitchen counter. And the Leela vase is the sculptural one for a console where it gets seen from every side.
The Stella glass vase from Anthropologie is worth adding for contrast. Because three ceramic vases in a row goes flat fast. And glass changes the light in a way ceramic cannot. The Rochester mushroom vase from Crate and Barrel is 15 inches. Which is the height that actually holds long pampas without tipping over. The Mable ceramic vase from AllModern is the one I would buy in a pair and set on either end of a mantel.
