Fall Capsule Wardrobe Basics I Wear on Repeat
I build my fall wardrobe around a handful of pieces I can wear in a lot of different combinations. And this collage is basically what that looks like in my own closet. I start with denim, because I wear jeans more than anything else. The PAIGE Stevie High Waist Straight Leg Jeans in Sound Check are $259, and a straight leg in a medium wash is the pair I put on when I have somewhere to be and no time to think.

For tops, I keep one silk blouse in rotation at all times. The Quince Washable Stretch Silk Blouse in ivory is $72 and it is washable, which is the part that actually matters to me. Because I will not wear something I have to dry clean every time. I tuck it into the Nordstrom Pull-On Wide Leg Pants in black, which are $129 and look far more expensive than they are. Wide leg trousers with a heel or a loafer are my whole fall uniform on days I want to look polished without wearing a full suit.
The J.Crew Cashmere Classic-Fit Crewneck Sweater in heather ash at $148 is the neutral I layer over everything. And heather ash is a nice change if you already own oatmeal and camel. The Abercrombie Classic Suiting Blazer in dark coffee is $112 down from $140. And I would take a brown blazer over a black one every time. It warms up denim in a way black just does not.
For a bag, the Madewell Lexington Leather Tote in hot coffee at $228 is the one I would carry daily. I like a tote that holds a laptop and still looks like a real bag, not a work bag. And the Sam Edelman Loraine Bit Loafer in french cognac at $150 pulls the brown tones together across all of it.
Everything here works with everything else, which is the whole point of a capsule. Buy the pieces slowly, wear them constantly, and you stop feeling like you have nothing to put on in the morning.
