Hello, friends! If you’ve been following my blog and Instagram for a while, you probably know about my passion for styling different tablescapes, especially during the holidays. However, I’ve never ventured into designing a Boho Tablescape before.

This post is about Boho Tablescape decor ideas. Not just for Thanksgiving but also for celebrating any special occasions.

To be honest, I haven’t been a big fan of the ‘boho style’ for table settings. I always believed Bohemian decorations were perfect for creating a fun picnic table, rather than the ideal choice for holidays or other special events.

However, I recently came across a stunning Bohemian wedding tablescape that I fell in love with! I discovered this particular tablescape in one of my favorite Italian decor magazines, and I just couldn’t get that image out of my mind! (Hahaha).

That’s why I’ve decided to infuse a bit of a ‘Boho feel’ into our Thanksgiving dinner table this year. As someone who loves decorating and hosting gatherings, I understand that the key to a successful dinner party lies in the details.

A boho tablescape revolves around the art of mixing and matching colors, patterns, and textures to create a relaxed and eclectic ambiance that’s perfect for any occasion.

Bohemian Table Setting

When it comes to creating the perfect boho tablescape, there are a few essentials that you’ll need. First, you’ll want to choose a color scheme that reflects the boho aesthetic. Next, you’ll want to focus on the center of the table, which is the focal point of your tablescape.

A beautiful floral arrangement, candles, and other decorative elements can all be used to create a stunning centerpiece that sets the tone for the entire table. Then you continue designing your table with dinner plates, glassware, flatware and so much more that I will walk you through one by one shortly!

In a boho tablescape, there are no strict rules; instead, creativity takes center stage. This style encourages you to mix and match a diverse range of tableware, from vintage plates and mismatched glassware to colorful textiles like vibrant tablecloths, runners, and napkins. Earthy, natural materials like woven placemats, wooden utensils, and so much more!

Bohemian table settings often incorporate elements inspired by nature, such as feathers, wildflowers, or driftwood centerpieces, to create a sense of wild beauty.

Boho Tablescape Essentials

When it comes to creating a boho tablescape, there are a few key essentials to keep in mind. I’ve put together a short list of design elements that will help you achieve the perfect “boho vibe” for your tablescape.

  • A boho tablescape is all about mixing and matching colors, patterns, and textures to create a relaxed and eclectic vibe.
  • To create the perfect boho tablescape, focus on choosing a color scheme that reflects the boho aesthetic and creating a stunning centerpiece for the center of the table.
  • Incorporating vintage and thrift store finds, as well as adding final touches and implementing hostess tips, can take your boho tablescape to the next level.

Creating the Perfect Boho Thanksgiving Table Decor

Bohemian table settings have gained popularity for Thanksgiving and other occasions due to their eclectic and vibrant aesthetic. Bohemian style is characterized by a relaxed and “free-spirited” approach to design, incorporating elements from different cultures, textures, colors, and patterns.

I think one reason why Bohemian Thanksgiving table settings are trendy is their emphasis on personalization and creativity. The Boho style encourages individuals to mix and match items they already own, promoting sustainability and reducing waste.

It also allows for a more relaxed and informal atmosphere, making your guests feel more comfortable during the holiday gathering.

Just remember, when it comes to Boho Thanksgiving table settings, keep things simple and natural. Opt for earthy colors and textures, as well as the natural centerpieces. Consider adding a touch of color with printed plates or colored wine glasses.

Here are a few table design tips that I would like to share with you if you are planning to design a Bohemian Thanksgiving tablescape, or for any other occasions like birthday parties, weddings, engagement parties and so much more…!

1- Color Scheme (Choose Soft Pastel and Neutral Colors)

Since I’m a HUGE fan of blush pink, I incorporate this beautiful soft pastel color in most of my home decor and table settings!

This is why I chose blush pink, ivory, white, and beige as my main color scheme to design our Thanksgiving table this year! You can choose the color scheme that works best for you and your personal style!

When it comes to the color scheme for your boho tablescape, think earthy tones, muted colors, or soft pastels! This can include shades of brown, beige, blush pink, other soft pastel color schemes (like green), and obviously, white! You also add pops of colors like mustard yellow or rust orange (depending on your party occasion and theme).

By keeping the color palette grounded in nature, you’ll create a cohesive and calming atmosphere. It is also common to see bold, jewel-toned colors like deep blues, lush greens, fiery oranges, and warm reds, all mixed with muted neutrals like beige or cream.

The key to a successful boho table setting is the freedom to mix and match colors, allowing for a relaxed and eclectic vibe that reflects the free-spirited nature of this unique style.

2- CHOOSE NATURAL ELEMENTS

As I mentioned above, one of the essential aspects of this aesthetic is the incorporation of natural elements. Boho tables usually feature elements like wooden chargers, woven placemats, and earthy textures to connect with nature.

Floral centerpieces with wildflowers or succulents, along with driftwood or stone accents, create an organic and rustic feel. By incorporating the beauty of the outdoors, a boho table setting embraces the charm of imperfection and brings a touch of the wild to the dining experience.

3- Skip the Traditional Table Runner

When designing a bohemian-style Thanksgiving tablescape, you should consider skipping the traditional table runners to your table. Traditional table runners are usually characterized by their linear and symmetrical designs.

These runners can feel “out of place” in a bohemian setting.  Bohemian decor thrives on diversity and embraces a mix of patterns, textures, and colors.

Skipping the traditional table runner allows you to showcase your creativity and design a tablescape that feels relaxed and spontaneous.

By forgoing the traditional table runner, you have the freedom to experiment with a wide array of decorative elements that reflect your personal style, creating a Thanksgiving tablescape that’s as unique as the bohemian spirit itself.

4- Create a Focal Point

I think one of the most important aspects of a Bohemian table setting is the creation of a “focal point”. This can be a statement piece like a large floral arrangement or a unique centerpiece, or it can be a collection of smaller items like candles.

Whatever you choose, make sure it draws the eye and adds visual interest to the table. This focal point not only adds visual interest but also anchors the design, drawing guests’ attention and creating a cohesive and inviting table that reflects Bohemian creativity and self-expression.

5- Start the Centerpiece with Fall Leaves

Since I chose “white, ivory, and pastel pink” as my color scheme for my Bohemian tablescape, I ordered these beautiful soft pink velvet leaves for my centerpiece! You can choose the fall leaves colors that work best for your table!

Fall leaves, come in all those gorgeous shades of red, orange, and yellow, instantly adding warmth and a touch of rustic charm to your setup.

They are super easy to find…You can easily snag them from your own backyard or take a quick walk in the park and collect some beautiful leaves!

In my opinion, fall leaves set the perfect foundation for a bohemian-style masterpiece. They create a natural and “earthy vibe”, which is what boho is all about. As your guests sit around your “leafy masterpiece”, the scent of fall leaves will transport everyone to a cozy, autumn wonderland.

No matter, if you prefer to style a traditional Thanksgiving table, a modern and colorful Thanksgiving table, or a cool Bohemian design fall table, adding leaves to your table centerpiece, is always a great idea!

6- Add Feathers

Adding feathers to your Bohemian tablescape is always a perfect choice! Feathers blend well into the Bohemian aesthetic, bringing a touch of elegance to your table setting. Their soft, natural textures create a sense of free-spirited, inviting, and visually beautiful on your table!

For Thanksgiving, feathers can hold special significance as symbols of “gratitude”! They symbolize the harvest season, and add a layer of depth to your tablescape! One of the best parts about using feathers is their versatility.

They come in several shapes, colors, and sizes!  If you’re hosting a Thanksgiving gathering, an outdoor garden party, or an intimate wedding reception, feathers can adapt effortlessly to complement your party theme!

Feathers also introduce a touch of the natural world to your table, creating a harmonious connection to the outdoors. Combining them with elements like candles, dried flowers, or eclectic glassware can easily create one-of-a-kind table arrangements.

Feathers are also a “budget-friendly” decorating option! Which makes it easier to design a beautiful tablescape without spending so much money on your centerpiece. They are usually available in craft stores or on Amazon at very affordable prices!

7- Boho Design Floral Centerpiece (Fresh & Dried Flowers)

Floral arrangements are a big part of any boho tablescape. To get the perfect look, choose flowers that have a wild and unstructured feel, such as dahlias, ranunculus, and eucalyptus. Many experienced florists, combine any of these flowers with fresh roses and dried flowers.

This combination creates a more bohemian feel. These floral elements bring a touch of nature to the table which is perfect for your boho decor. Flowers are typically displayed in unique containers like vintage vases, mason jars, ceramic, or even repurposed bottles.

8- White Pumpkins (Faux or Real)

Since my table color scheme is soft pink, white, and ivory, I added a few soft pink velvet pumpkins along with my white velvet pumpkins. However, you can only choose white pumpkins for your bohemian Thanksgiving centerpiece!

The white pumpkins (with its earthy and neutral color palette) are perfect for the “Boho aesthetic”. Since my color scheme is soft pink, white, and ivory, I added a few soft pink velvet pumpkins along with my white velvet pumpkins.

Their versatility is another great feature. White pumpkins can serve different functions within your tablescape, from elegant centerpieces to charming candle holders or even creative place card holders.

I think they offer so much freedom to personalize your decor. In my opinion, while Thanksgiving is usually more about the traditional autumn colors, designing with white pumpkins adds a stylish twist to the seasonal decor.

Overall, I think when styling a Boho-chic tablescape for Thanksgiving, using white pumpkins (real or faux) is a fantastic idea.

9- Wooden or Gold Charger

I have never been able to decorate my tables without the charges! hahaha! I think chargers are one of the “Must-Haves” for any tablescape! Adding wooden or gold chargers to your Boho Tablescape for Thanksgiving is a fantastic idea that can elevate your table decor to a whole new level of chic. These chargers bring a touch of rustic charm and elegance to the setting, which are key elements of Bohemian style.

The warm, earthy tones of wooden chargers or the luxurious gold ones can create a beautiful contrast against the mix of colors, textures, and patterns (which are typically associated with Boho decor). They are also a wonderful and stylish base for your dinnerware which adds depth and dimension to your table.

10- Dinner Plates

White, earthy, and warm tones are ideal for the color palette of your dinner plates. Consider using plates in shades of Ivory, light brown, beige, light mustard, and pastel colors to create a sense of warmth and comfort.

These colors will complement the autumnal feel of Thanksgiving while also adding a Boho touch to your table setting. Boho chic is all about embracing natural textures and imperfections.

You can also mix and match different plate styles within the same color scheme to create a layered and eclectic look that is characteristic of Boho decor.

11- Linen Napkins

When styling a Bohemian Thanksgiving table, choosing the right linen napkins can play a huge role in the overall aesthetic and create a warm, inviting table.

When styling a Bohemian table, opt for linen napkins with “earthy” or “vibrant” colors that reflect the free-spirited nature of Boho design. White or earthy tones like rust, mustard, olive green, or deep burgundy can create a perfect look for your Thanksgiving table.

Texture is also very important when selecting linen napkins for a Bohemian table setting. Look for napkins with a slightly rough and tactile texture, as this adds a rustic and natural feel that complements the “Boho vibe”.

Another important factor to consider is the size of the linen napkins. Opt for generously sized napkins that can be creatively folded or draped over the table to create a relaxed and informal look.

The casual nature of Bohemian design is about mixing and matching, so don’t be afraid to combine various napkin colors and patterns to create a visually beautiful table!

12- Napkin Rings or Little Pumpkins

Napkin rings may only look like little table accessories, but in my opinion, they have a big role in styling a table (including a bohemian tablescape). Whether crafted from wood, or metal, or adorned with beads, each napkin ring can tell its own story, and play a big part in your bohemian table.

Napkin rings also act as harmonious color coordinators. These small accessories effortlessly tie the diverse colors together.

Napkin rings are an important part of your bohemian tablescape, adding that personal touch, keeping your layers in check, coordinating colors, and bringing nature in. They might be small, but they’re a big deal when it comes to creating that beautiful authentic boho dining experience.

13- Vintage Style Wine or Water Glasses

Vintage-style wine or water glasses can add a touch of charm and uniqueness to your Boho Tablescape. These glasses, with their classic design and rustic appeal, can easily create a warm, inviting table for your guests. I bought mine from Anthropologie, however, you can find similar styles on Amazon as well.

Vintage-style glassware adds so much character to your Boho Tablescape. Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate traditions and create lasting memories, and using glasses with a vintage vibe can be a beautiful touch to your table. They truly give your table a totally different personality that sets it apart from the typical, mass-produced glassware. Here are also some styles on Amazon.

Vintage-style wine, champagne, or water glasses can perfectly complement the bohemian aesthetic. Another advantage of vintage-style glasses is their versatility. They effortlessly blend with a wide range of table decor elements, from colorful textiles and floral arrangements to natural materials like wood and woven textures.

Whether you’re going for a rustic, farmhouse-inspired Boho look or a more elegant and refined style, vintage glassware can adapt and enhance your vision.

14- White Candles & Candle Holders

Candles and candle holders play an important role in creating a chic and inviting Boho Tablescape for Thanksgiving. Their soft, warm glow and versatile design make them important pieces that add both style and ambiance to your table decor.

White candles and holders are incredibly versatile, which allow you to design your tablescape the way you like. If you’re going for a “minimalist” Boho chic style or a more eclectic and vibrant arrangement, white candles give a neutral foundation that pairs well with different colors and textures.

You can mix and match them with your floral arrangements, or earthy elements like wooden chargers and woven placemats. White candles also symbolize purity and gratitude, making them a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving celebration. They represent the idea of giving thanks and creating a sense of peace and harmony around the table.

Lighting them as you sit down for the meal adds a beautiful touch to the occasion, reminding everyone of the importance of gratitude and togetherness.

Candle holders, especially those with a “Boho flair”, contribute to the overall aesthetic of your tablescape. The specific designs, patterns, and materials of candle holders can complement the Bohemian style effortlessly. Look for holders made from natural materials like wood, glass, wicker, or metal with rustic-inspired details.

Candles and candleholders, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, contribute to the Bohemian aesthetic, offer versatility in design, symbolize gratitude, and serve a practical purpose. So, don’t forget to include these chic and stylish elements in your Thanksgiving table decor to make your celebration truly special.

15- Ceramic or Glass Vase

Ceramic and glass vases come in different shapes, sizes, and colors, making them versatile elements for creating a Bohemian tablescape. I bought this white/gold ceramic vase from CB2 a couple years ago. They are sold of this style. However, you can shop something similar like:

From beautiful hand-painted ceramic vases with vibrant patterns to transparent glass vases that let the natural beauty of flowers and leaves shine through, these materials are wonderful options to match any Bohemian theme.

Whether it’s a bunch of wildflowers, pampas grass, or dried flowers and blooms, ceramic and glass vases allow you to experiment with different arrangements that are perfect for Bohemian decor!

Ceramic and glass vases are also the best choices because of their versatility and ability to showcase a diverse range of floral arrangements and their durability.

Whether you’re hosting a bohemian-themed dinner party or simply want to decorate your home with Bohemian style, ceramic and glass vases are important elements that can truly transform your table and your space.
