Happy Thursday guys! In this post I’m going to share some of the best areas to stay in Vancouver, Canada. I stayed in Vancouver with Valentina and Alina for three weeks last summer. I thought is a good idea to write a post about some of the best areas to stay in Vancouver, the best neighborhoods and overall, some of the greatest Vancouver hotels.

This post is about the best areas to stay in Vancouver, Canada!

When it comes to traveling it’s important to choose a hotel that works the best for you and your family. I know that when I go on vacation, I do a lot of research to find the best hotels and places to stay in whatever city I’m going to. Let’s look into some of my favorite hotels and places to stay in Vancouver, Canada.

Best Hotels in Vancouver

Today I’m going to be answering the question, where is the best place to stay in Vancouver? I will be taking an in-depth look at the best areas to stay in Vancouver, the best hotels in Vancouver British Columbia, and simply unique places to stay on Vancouver Island.

Luxury Hotels in Vancouver

1- Rosewood Hotel Georgia

I will be sharing a little more information about this hotel since Matt and I along with Valentina and Alina stayed at this hotel and enjoyed our time.

I did so much research about the best hotels in Vancouver BC, before our trip! Matt was staying in Vancouver for only a few days. Therefore, we wanted to stay someplace central and close to all the “happening spots”. This hotel is located in an upscale area of downtown Vancouver and is close to all the great restaurants and shops.

The 1927 Lobby Lounge

The 1927 Lobby Lounge is a hidden gem in the middle of the busy Vancouver city center! This lobby offers such a stylish Hollywood Royalty ambiance, beautiful cocktails, amazing wines, and incredible champagnes, appetizers, and desserts.

Matt and I enjoyed grabbing some drinks in the evening at this beautiful lobby lounge before our dinner reservation.

Reflections- The Terrace Garden

I highly recommend dining at the Reflections- The Terrace Garden. We had brunch at this beautiful terrace garden the first day that we arrived.

We also dined there for dinner a couple of times…. To be honest, we preferred their brunch menu more than the dinner offerings.

If you are looking to stay in Vancouver, be the middle of downtown, and be close to all the restaurants and shops (several high-end stores), this is a great hotel for you!

Best Neighborhood to Stay in Vancouver

Downtown

Downtown Vancouver is a great place to stay and it is close to everything you would ever need. In my opinion, Downtown is simply one of the best locations in Vancouver.

Attractions include a full shopping district (high-end shops and mid-level shops), entertainment such as theaters, and numerous dining options. Once you are downtown, you can get almost everywhere by walking!

There are also many charming residential neighborhoods in downtown Vancouver and it is very safe to walk around and enjoy the city! There are lots of great local coffee shops, bakery shops, food trucks, ice cream shops, restaurants, bars, and lounges. This is why I believe downtown is the best part of Vancouver!

Coal Harbour

Coal Harbour is right downtown and located right at the edge of the water making it yet another one of the most unique places to stay on Vancouver Island.

It’s a quiet residential neighborhood perfect for a calming stay in the town while being so close (walking distance) to downtown Vancouver.

You can walk to the beautiful Stanley Park, Gastown, and Robson Street. There are many beautiful hotels right on the water in the Coal Harbour neighborhood. Coal Harbour considers one of the best areas to stay in Vancouver (for hotels or Airbnb).

Gastown

Gastown is the oldest part of Downtown Vancouver, with cobbled streets and a famous steam clock that is fully operated by the steam engine.

This is another one of the most unique places to stay on Vancouver Island. I personally do not like to stay in that area. However, many tourists enjoy staying in Gastown and they believe this neighborhood is one of the most perfect locations to stay in Vancouver.

Many hotel concierges recommend that you do not walk around Gastown at night (especially for women who travel solo). However, it is a safe place to visit during the day and is packed with locals and tourists. Gastown is filled with fun boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants.

Kitsilano

I would say stay in Kitsilano if you want to experience one of Vancouver’s beach neighborhoods. Many buses run frequently from Kitsilano to Downtown Vancouver (not as many at night). There are a lot of very good local restaurants in Kitsilano.

Kitsilano is known for originating the brand Lululemon and it is on the waterfront of Vancouver. It’s right on the waterfront and consists of a nice beach, attractions, and different dining options.

Staying Downtown is definitely the most convenient option (but likely more expensive). Once again, if you want to mostly enjoy Vancouver’s beaches, this is a great area to consider when you stay in Vancouver.

Yaletown

While the “West End” of Vancouver is one of the city’s most tourist-friendly destinations, Yaletown is also a beautiful place to stay. Yaletown is pretty small, but it is dense.

There are lots of bars and restaurants and unique boutiques. Yaletown offers several cute sidewalk cafes, bars, and unique boutiques.

Best Places to Stay in Vancouver for Tourists

In my opinion, one of the best places to stay in Vancouver for tourists is downtown Vancouver. Regardless of if you are traveling to Vancouver for business or vacation, downtown is the most central part of the city.

There are many beautiful hotels, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, high-end department stores, luxury stores, as well as mid to low-price shops and boutiques to explore! If you stay in downtown Vancouver, everything is simply within walking distance of your hotel.

Best Area to Stay in Vancouver Without a Car

Once again, if you stay in downtown Vancouver, you do not need a car! If you stay in other areas besides downtown Vancouver, it’s best to find a hotel that offers a taxi service or bike rental.

I feel that the Fairmont Pacific Rim, Westin Bayshore, and Wedgewood Hotel & Spa are all great options with taxi service or bike service. They’re equipped to have everything you need for traveling if you come to Vancouver without transportation.

Best Places to Stay in Vancouver for Families

Every single hotel that I named in this post is perfect for staying in Vancouver with your family, as a couple, or single! They are all in great locations, easy and convenient for families!

For 5-star hotels, I personally suggest Fairmont Hotel in downtown Vancouver, The Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Vancouver and the Shangri-La hotel in downtown Vancouver. For 4 to 4.5-star hotels, I suggest Delta Hotels by JW Marriott Downtown Vancouver (an all-suite hotel), The Westin Bayshore Vancouverand Hyatt Regency Downtown Vancouver. The rooms are pretty big, and the location is great!
