Master Bedroom Reveal: From Design Ideas to Transformation With High Fashion Home Furniture

After months of work, it’s finally time for our master bedroom reveal. I honestly can’t believe I’m finally sitting down to write this post. After months of renovation, planning, and what felt like endless decisions, seeing the space fully finished still feels a little surreal.

Anyone who has gone through a home renovation knows how intense the process can be. There are so many details to consider, from the construction stage to choosing wallpaper, paint colors, framing details, lighting, and all the little design elements that shape the final look of the room.

For me, the design phase has always been the most exciting part. It’s the moment when the vision you had in your head slowly comes together, and you begin to see the space take on its own personality.

As our renovation was coming to an end, I started focusing on how we wanted our bedroom to feel. I wanted it to feel calm, elegant, and timeless, a space where we could relax at the end of the day.

I’ve always loved the beautiful furniture at High Fashion Home, so when it came time to furnish the room, their pieces felt like the perfect fit. From the tall upholstered headboard to the modern black nightstands and the elegant bench at the foot of the bed, everything came together exactly how I had envisioned. Now that both the renovation and the design phases are complete, we finally get to do the best part: simply enjoy the space.

In this post, I also wanted to share some of the design ideas and little details we used to bring the room together and turn the vision I had in my head into a real space. Sometimes it’s the smaller design decisions that make the biggest difference, and I’m excited to walk you through the ideas we used to create a bedroom that feels both beautiful and comfortable.

1- Our Master Bedroom Design Vision

In the beginning stages of the design phase for our renovation, we already had a pretty clear idea of the feeling we wanted for our bedroom. We knew I wanted the room to feel modern and elegant, but not so modern that it feels cold or like an office. We wanted it to feel warm and inviting, somewhere we could truly relax at the end of the day.

I’ve always loved French interiors, but I also knew I didn’t want to go fully traditional with the design. Traditional French furniture and décor can be absolutely beautiful, but personally, I tend to gravitate toward cleaner, more modern lines. What I really love is a more modern French look, something that still feels classic and timeless, but with a slightly updated, simpler feel.

2- We Added Wall Panels for Architectural Detail

Once we had a clear vision for the style we wanted in our bedroom, the next step was figuring out how to bring more character to the walls. Because our ceilings are quite tall, I didn’t want the walls to feel too plain or empty. Adding wall panels felt like the perfect way to introduce architectural detail while still keeping the design elegant and balanced.

At the same time, I didn’t want the panels to look overly traditional or heavy. Since I was aiming for a more modern French-inspired feel, we kept the framing clean and simple to complement the room’s overall style. The goal was to create structure on the wall without making it feel busy.

Once the panels were installed, the room immediately felt more complete. They added depth and dimension to the space and laid a beautiful foundation for the accent wall we planned. Even before the wallpaper was added, the paneling alone made such a big difference and gave the bedroom a much more polished look.

3- We Swapped The Ceiling Fan For A Chandelier

Almost everyone tried to talk me out of removing the ceiling fan in our bedroom (including my husband, Matt) lol!! Contractors, friends, family, pretty much anyone I mentioned it to said the same thing: you live in Arizona, you need a ceiling fan. And honestly, I understand why people say that. Arizona summers are extremely hot, and fans definitely help circulate the air in a room.

But I have to be honest, one thing I truly disliked about our old bedroom was the ceiling fan. No matter the style, whether it was modern or traditional, I’ve just never liked the look of ceiling fans. For me, it’s simply a design preference. I spent quite a bit of time researching alternatives and looking at what people in other hot places like Florida, Texas, and Arizona do when they don’t want a ceiling fan.

One solution I kept seeing was using a nice floor fan at night instead. Many people place a modern floor fan next to the bed while they sleep and put it away in the morning so it doesn’t affect the room’s look during the day.

That’s exactly what we decided to do. We replaced the ceiling fan with a chandelier and, during the hot months, used a floor fan at night. In the morning, I would just put it back in the closet. We went through the entire Arizona summer this way, and honestly it worked perfectly!

I’m extremely happy we made that decision. A beautiful chandelier really finishes a bedroom and becomes almost like the jewelry of the room, something a ceiling fan just can’t do. We ended up doing the same thing in the kids’ rooms as well, replacing the fans with chandeliers.

Even though ceiling fans are VERY common in Arizona homes, this ended up being one of my favorite design decisions in the renovation. If you live in a hot climate, you don’t necessarily have to rely on a ceiling fan; you can always use a floor fan when you need it and still keep the overall look of the room exactly how you want it.

4-We Chose a Soft Textured Wallpaper for the Walls

Once the wall panels were installed, the next step was choosing the wallpaper for the inside. And honestly, I can’t even tell you how many wallpaper books Matt and I went through before finally choosing one. LOL! There were so many beautiful options, and narrowing them down definitely took some time.

To be honest, I love a lot of bold wallpapers. Some of them have incredible textures, colors, and dramatic patterns that can make a space look really striking. But for our bedroom, I knew I didn’t want to go too bold or busy. Since my goal was to create a space that feels soft, warm, inviting, and relaxing, I felt that a calmer design would work much better for this room.

In the end, we chose a beautiful textured wallpaper in a soft white tone. It has just enough texture to add interest to the wall without overpowering the room. What I love most about it is how it changes slightly throughout the day, depending on the light from the windows. Sometimes it looks brighter, sometimes a little warmer, and that subtle shift adds so much depth to the space.

Placing the wallpaper inside the wall panels turned out exactly the way I had envisioned. It highlights the panels beautifully while still keeping the room calm and balanced.

I’ll be writing a separate post soon about all the wallpapers we chose throughout the house and will link to every single one there. But for this room, this wallpaper truly gave us the soft and elegant look we were hoping for, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

5- We Added Wall Sconces for Warmth and Ambiance

One design detail I absolutely love in our bedroom is the wall sconces on each side of the bed. We placed them inside the wall panels, and once they were installed, they instantly made the bed area look more elegant and finished.

I’ve always loved sconces in a bedroom because they add such a beautiful touch to the space. During the day, they look like part of the wall design, but at night, they are honestly one of my favorite things in the room. The warm light they give off is so soft and calming.

At night, instead of turning on the main lights, we usually just turn on the sconces. The soft lighting makes the whole room feel peaceful and relaxing, which is exactly the feeling I wanted for our bedroom. It’s one of those small details that really changed the atmosphere of the space, making it feel even cozier and inviting.

6- We Chose a Soft Neutral Palette for the Bedroom

Another thing I always knew I wanted was a very clean and fresh color palette. I love bedrooms that feel bright, soft, and relaxing. I imagined using off-white modern drapery, a beautiful white bed, and keeping most of the main elements in light neutral tones.

To keep the space from feeling too plain, I wanted to add a few darker pieces and accent colors to create contrast and depth. That combination of light neutrals with a few darker accents gives the room a more polished, modern look without detracting from the space’s calm. For me, the goal was always to create a bedroom that feels peaceful the moment you walk in. A space that feels clean, balanced, and relaxing, but still stylish and thoughtfully designed.

7- We Painted the Ceiling Beams Black for Contrast+Drama

Another design detail in our bedroom was the ceiling beams. Originally, they were painted white, just like the ceiling. After we changed our bedroom doors from white to black, and since the window trims were already black, I started wondering if the beams might look beautiful painted black as well.

At the same time, I have to admit I felt a little nervous about going all in with black beams on the ceiling. It felt like a bold choice, and I wasn’t completely sure how it would look once everything was finished.

To be honest, at one point I even considered removing the beams altogether. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how many beautiful spaces use beams to add architectural detail and character. Instead of removing them, I started to see them as an opportunity to enhance the design.

One day, I mentioned to Matt, “What if we paint the beams black?” I liked the idea, but I was still a little hesitant to fully commit. Then, just a few days before our painters finished the walls and wallpaper in the master bedroom, I came across a beautiful bedroom on Pinterest with black ceiling beams. The moment I saw that image, it completely confirmed my decision. Hahaha! I’m so glad we went with black.

The beams add such a nice contrast to the room and tie in perfectly with the black doors and window trims. They also bring a lot of character to the space. If you’re looking for a simple way to update a room and add a bit of architectural interest, painting ceiling beams in a contrasting color can make a surprisingly big impact.

8- We Chose an Upholstered Bed to Make the Room Feel Cozy

Once the renovation stage was finally complete, the construction, flooring, painting, wallpaper installation, and all the structural work were complete, we were able to move into the part I enjoy the most: furnishing and styling the space! haha! This is really when a room begins to feel like a HOME!

When it came to choosing the bed, I knew I wanted something upholstered. Our previous bed was beautiful and had a leather frame(which we loved), but for this bedroom, I wanted a softer look. Fabric beds naturally create a warmer, more welcoming feeling in a room, and I felt that would work perfectly with the calm, neutral atmosphere I was trying to create.

Another important detail for me was the height of the headboard. Since our ceilings are quite tall, I didn’t want a shorter headboard that would visually feel too small for the space. I wanted something taller to balance the room’s height and create a stronger focal point on the wall. A taller upholstered headboard helps anchor the room and makes the whole space feel more proportionate.

Of course, comfort and practicality were also important. I wanted a fabric that felt soft and inviting, yet durable and easy to maintain. I loved this beautiful Amelia Tall bed the moment I saw it, and it quickly became the focal point of our master bedroom.

The tall tufted headboard with the soft winged sides makes the bed feel incredibly cozy and inviting, which is exactly the feeling I wanted for this space. I also love how the headboard’s height adds a little drama and naturally draws your eye up when you walk into the room. It really makes the bed feel like the centerpiece of the entire design and helps anchor the whole space.

Another thing I love about this bed is that it doesn’t feel too modern or too traditional, which makes it really easy to style with different pieces. The Nomad Snow fabric also has a beautiful, soft texture and is made with Crypton fabric, known for its durability and stain resistance. That was definitely a big plus for me because I wanted something that looks beautiful but is also practical for everyday life, especially with my little girls always wanting to hang out on our bed to read books and relax. Haha!

9- We Added Black Nightstands for Contrast and Harmony With the Black Beams and Window Trim

After we chose the bed, the next design detail was the nightstands. Since the bed and most of the room have softer and lighter tones, I knew I wanted to create a bit of contrast next to the bed. I didn’t want to go with another light or white nightstand because I felt the room needed something darker to balance everything out.

That’s when I decided to go with this modern black nightstand from High Fashion Home. I loved the clean, modern design and the rich black tone, which adds depth to the space while still keeping the overall look elegant. The darker color also ties in beautifully with the other black elements in the room, such as the window trims, doors, and ceiling beams.

Another thing I really liked about these nightstands is their size and proportions. Especially since the upholstered headboard is taller, I didn’t want small nightstands that would feel out of scale next to the bed. These feel substantial enough to balance the bed while still keeping the room looking modern and uncluttered. In the end, they created exactly the contrast I was hoping for and helped bring the bedroom’s overall look together.

10-We Styled the Foot of the Bed With a Bench to Complement the Upholstered Bed

For the foot of the bed, we chose this beautiful bench. It just simply felt like the perfect piece to finish the bed area without making the space feel too heavy. I really liked its clean, simple lines, which work beautifully with the upholstered bed while still keeping the overall look soft and relaxed. The boucle fabric also adds a nice texture, which helps bring a little more warmth to the room.

It’s also a really practical piece to have in the bedroom. It’s a great spot to sit while putting on shoes, or to place a throw or extra pillows at night. I also liked that the fabric is a performance fabric, which means it’s a bit more durable and easier to maintain. Overall, it just felt like the right finishing touch for the space and helped complete the whole bed area.

11- We Added Swivel Chairs to Create a Relaxing Sitting Area

One thing I’ve always liked in a master bedroom is having a small sitting area. It makes the space feel more like a true master suite rather than just a room with a bed. Since we had a nice spot by the window with beautiful natural light, I thought it would be the perfect place to create a cozy little corner.

We decided to add two swivel chairs because I’ve always loved them. They’re comfortable, relaxed, and just a fun addition to a bedroom. Our swivel chairs are not from High Fashion Home, but you can find similar chairs from them, such as this lovely one, or browse their beautiful collection.

The swivel feature makes them feel less formal and more inviting, which works really nicely in a bedroom. It’s the kind of spot where you can easily sit down and turn toward the window, the bed, or just enjoy the view outside.

What I love most about this little sitting area is how it’s become a cozy corner for our family. Valentina and Alina often come sit on the chairs and talk to me about their day at school or just chat for a few minutes before we leave the house. It’s also a peaceful spot for me. On a quiet Sunday morning, I sometimes like to sit there with a cup of coffee, look outside the window, and enjoy the morning before the day gets busy.

From a design perspective, it also helped fill the space in a beautiful way. Instead of leaving that area empty, the chairs create a small, inviting corner that adds warmth and makes the bedroom feel more complete.

12- We Added a Side Table and Floor Lamp as the Final Touch

To make the sitting area by the window feel more complete, I added a small side table between the two swivel chairs. I always think a table between chairs makes a seating area feel more intentional and practical, rather than just placing two chairs next to each other. It creates the perfect spot to set down a coffee, a book, or anything you may want nearby while sitting there.

You can also find beautiful side tables from High Fashion Home that would work perfectly in a space like this. I styled the table with a small glass vase filled with white flowers, which adds a soft and elegant touch to the corner without making it feel cluttered. I also finished it with a small picture frame with a photo of the two of us, which adds a personal touch and makes the space feel even more special.

Next to the chairs, I added a floor lamp. The lamp adds a bit of height to the space and helps balance the corner’s overall look. It also creates a warm, cozy light in the evenings, making the sitting area feel even more inviting. Together, the side table and lamp help finish this little corner and make it feel like a comfortable, thoughtful part of the bedroom rather than just empty space. High Fashion Home also has a beautiful collection of floor lamps you can browse if you’re looking for something similar.

13- We Styled the Fireplace Wall With a Statement Mirror

Another area I wanted to design thoughtfully was the wall across from the bed. I’ve always loved the idea of having a fireplace in the bedroom because it adds so much warmth and atmosphere to the space. At the same time, I didn’t want to install a permanent, built-in fireplace in a single fixed location.

One thing about me is that I like to change and refresh parts of our home depending on the season or whenever I feel inspired to update the design. Because of that, I thought a beautiful stand-alone fireplace would be a much better choice. It gives us the flexibility to move it around if I ever want to rearrange the room or change the space’s style.

To finish off that wall, I added a decorative mirror above the fireplace. When we first installed the fireplace, I felt like the wall across from the bed still needed something, so it wouldn’t look empty. The mirror turned out to be the perfect piece to complete that area and give the wall a nice focal point. You can browse High Fashion Home’s beautiful mirror collection.

Now, when you look across the room, the fireplace and the mirror together make that whole wall feel more finished and balanced. The fireplace brings that cozy feeling into the space, especially in the evenings, and the mirror adds a little extra character without making the room feel busy. It’s one of those simple details that ended up making a bigger difference than I expected.

14- We Created A Gallery Wall Of Family Photos

One thing about me is that I absolutely love photos. If you know me well, you know I’m always taking pictures of everything, from home decor to travel moments and little everyday things, haha. But photos of my family are always my favorites. Those are the ones that mean the most to me because they capture the sweetest memories. I love being able to look back at them later and remember those little moments that go by so quickly. Every photo brings back a memory, and honestly, it really touches my heart every time I see one.

Originally, I was thinking about creating a family gallery wall in our living room. But toward the end of the renovation, we changed a few design ideas in that space, and that wall ended up being used for something else. So the gallery wall in the living room didn’t happen.

But I still really wanted to have a dedicated wall somewhere in the house for our family pictures. That’s when I decided to do it in our bedroom instead. And honestly, I’m so happy we did. When I wake up in the morning, one of the first things I see is that wall filled with pictures of my family. And at night, before going to sleep, it’s one of the last things I look at.

It’s such a simple thing, but it means so much to me. Seeing those memories every day just reminds me how grateful I am for my family. I truly can’t tell you how much I love having this family gallery wall in our bedroom. It makes the space feel so personal and full of meaning.

15- We Styled Our Nightstands And Fireplace With Decorative Books And Flowers

When it came to decorating the nightstands, I honestly didn’t want to put too many things on them. I like nightstands to feel simple and not too crowded. At the same time, I didn’t want them to look empty either.

One thing I’ve always loved using when decorating is coffee table books. I think they add a nice little layer and make the space feel more styled without overdoing it. So I stacked a couple of books and then added a simple glass vase with flowers on top.

To me, flowers always make a room feel softer and more welcoming. It’s such a small detail, but it makes the nightstands feel more alive and finished. Sometimes, the simplest touches like books and flowers are really all you need. The decorative books I used came from our library, but here are some beautiful options from High Fashion Home to take a look at.

16- We Styled Windows With A Cornice And Off-White Drapery

Another detail that made a big difference in the room was adding a cornice with off-white drapery. We ended up working with a great local drapery company to design and build the cornice specifically for our window so it would fit the space perfectly.

I love how it frames the window and gives the drapery a more finished and tailored look. The off-white fabric also keeps the room feeling soft and light, which is exactly the feeling I wanted for our bedroom.

I’m really glad we decided to go that route because the cornice adds such a beautiful finished look to the window. It frames the space nicely and gives the drapery a more polished, tailored feel, which fits perfectly with the room’s overall design.

For the drapery, I chose a soft off-white fabric to keep the bedroom feeling light, calm, and elegant. At the same time, we also went with blackout curtains, which turned out to be a great decision. When they’re closed, they completely darken the room, which is perfect for privacy and also helps make the space feel extra cozy when we want to relax or sleep in a little longer.

Bottom Line

Finishing our master bedroom feels really rewarding after everything we went through during the renovation. From all the construction decisions to the design phase, it definitely took time for everything to come together, but now that we’re finally living in the space, it feels so nice to see it all completed.

What I love most is how relaxing the room feels the moment we walk in. Between the soft color palette, the upholstered bed, the wall panels, and the darker accents like the nightstands and ceiling beams, everything feels calm, balanced, and comfortable.

I’m really grateful to High Fashion Home for their beautiful furniture pieces that helped bring the room together. I hope this post gives you a few ideas or a little inspiration if you’re considering updating your bedroom. Sometimes, even small design choices can make a space feel completely different.

Love,
Sherry XOXO
