Timeless Kitchen Design: Our Kitchen Reveal with Sub-Zero, Wolf

Sharing our renovated kitchen today feels so special. This space has been years in the making (at least in my mind) hahaha. Simply, ever since I started seriously pinning timeless kitchen designs on Pinterest for our own home, I knew I didn’t want anything “too trendy.” I wanted something classic, a kitchen that would remain beautiful for years to come.

Why Arches Inspired Our Kitchen Vision

I’ve always loved, loved, loved arches… doors, entryways, patios, you name it! They bring so much elegance, style, and character to a space, instantly making it feel special. While our home already had several arches, I knew I wanted a beautiful arch design to frame our kitchen and tie everything together.

I first saved the idea years ago on Pinterest, then last year I saw a similar arch in person at a kitchen and bath show in Las Vegas. That moment confirmed it: arches would be the focal point of our new kitchen.

Initially, the design for our arch was nearly 20% larger than the one we ultimately chose. I really wanted one giant, dramatic arch that would make a bold statement in the kitchen. But after reevaluating the space several times, we realized that such a massive arch would leave very little room for cabinets and storage, which was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to renovate in the first place.

For years, I felt like I was constantly running out of space. Because of what I do for a living, I decorate and style a lot, which means I own more than the average amount of plates, serving pieces, table settings, placemats, and entertaining essentials.

In our old kitchen, everything felt crammed into every available cabinet, and there was just never enough room to keep things organized. One of my top priorities for this renovation was to create a kitchen that was not only beautiful but also highly functional, with ample extra cabinets and storage space for all the things that inspire me in my work and daily life.

Ultimately, we decided to scale the arch down slightly. It’s still a large-size arch, and the arch now lines up beautifully with our island, but it no longer overwhelms the space or encroaches on valuable cabinet areas. My original vision was for the arch to stretch dramatically from one side of the kitchen all the way over to the coffee and wine station. But by adjusting it to a more balanced size, we were able to preserve both the drama of the design and the practicality of everyday living.

I knew from the start that even with the most beautiful archways, countertops, cabinetry, and lighting, the design could only take the kitchen so far. Without high-quality appliances, a kitchen doesn’t truly function. To create a timeless space that would last for years, our appliances had to be just as durable and stylish as the design itself.

When it came to appliances, we didn’t even shop around. We went straight back to Sub-Zero, Wolf & Cove because we had them in our old kitchen and already knew how good they are. When it came to cabinets, I knew I wanted a look that felt timeless. I’ve seen many beautiful kitchen design ideas lately, featuring colorful cabinetry; emerald green, deep purple, and even royal blue. Honestly, they’re gorgeous and very tempting, and I loved seeing them at the Kitchen & Bath Show in Las Vegas. However, the truth is that trends come and go, and I wanted our kitchen to feel classic for years to come.

For me, white cabinets will always be timeless. They make a space feel brighter, calmer, bigger, and cleaner, everything I wanted in this kitchen. To soften the look, we decided to add a soft, natural wood tone to the island. It brings warmth without taking away from the bright, open feel.

The main highlight of our kitchen isn’t just the color palette; it’s how the appliances complete the look. In our previous Wolf cooktop, we had those signature red knobs, and I absolutely loved them every time I looked at them.
